State Elephant of Karauli - introduction
What was the Delhi Durbar 1903 / Mar 26th, 2020 12:56 am     A+ | a-
I'm back with the process of the State Elephant of Karauli (my next elephant to be released next month)

The State elephant of Karauli was the 7th elephant on the right column at the Main Procession. It walked just beside the State Elephant of Datia.

Before showing the process, I need to show all the photographs I could get of this elephant.

This shot was taken from a larger photo

This is one of the digital copies that I bought from the British Library. It was taken from the Jumma Masjid, just when the elephants turned from Khas road to go around the mosque. The first two elephants are the state elephant of Bikaner, closer to the camera, and the state elephant of Rewa just behind it. After both come the state elephants from Kota and Orchha, and behind those, Karauli and Datia

This one was taken a few seconds before, at the same curve. One of the last digital copies that I bought. Only the detail of the front of the howda, the maharaja and the mahout can be seen here (the original file shows much more detail). But this picture has been very useful at the time of making the escort guards. This is the most clear photo that I have of them

This photo was taken a few seconds later. This is the only photo where I can see all the elephant from the side. The photo doesn't show excellent detail but you can see the whole pattern of the elephants clothes there, the man sitting behind the maharaja, the jingle bells attached to the lower back of the elephant. Also, some of the guards can be seen as well.

I will be posting photos and process every day so it is all for today. I don't want to run out of stuff too soon.

Stay safe, and be well.

Ana
